rat-tails and juniper bushesThere was a wild grass that grew on the hillside, a strong, supple plant with a silky sheen to its page green stems. We called it rat-tails, though it probably had some other name. Often Conor would weave this grass into mini baskets so I could have something to collect my flowers and rocks in, his long fingers fast and nimble.
